Track adjusters and recoil assemblies for excavators

The track adjuster, or recoil spring assembly, sits in the undercarriage frame between the bulkhead and the idler. Its job is to keep the track correctly tensioned. DuraTrack track adjusters are available from stock for nearly 300 excavator models, including Case, CAT, Daewoo, Doosan, Hitachi, Hyundai, JCB, Kobelco, Komatsu, New Holland, Takeuchi and Volvo.

Three parts, one assembly

  • Tensioning piston: a grease-filled ram that sets the tension when grease is pumped through the nipple
  • Spring pack: absorbs impact as the track meets obstacles
  • Yoke: the fork-shaped section that bolts to the idler side arms or blocks

Warranty

12 months when purchased and fitted along with a new idler. 6 months when purchased and fitted without a new idler, because a worn idler can cause a new track adjuster to fail prematurely. It is also far easier to replace the adjuster while the idler is being changed.

Signs of failure

A track that looks far too tight can mean the spring rod has broken and the assembly is over-tensioned. Loss of tension points to failed piston seals. A cracked spring is often only found when the idler comes off. If any of these apply, use the parts finder above to select your machine, or contact the team with the make and model.
