Undercarriage hardwareWhat Goes Into a DuraTrack Dozer Track Roller
Track rollers carry the weight of the dozer through the track chain to the ground, under push, rip and turn loads. Material, hardness and fit decide how long that lasts.
| Feature | What it does |
|---|---|
| Forged roller shell | Friction welded or submerged arc welded, then heat treated by differential quenching or through hardening. |
| Hardened shaft | Forged alloy or rolled carbon steel, hardened to carry the machine weight. |
| Heavy-duty seals | Reinforced flanges and heavy-duty seals increase reliability in dozer conditions. |
| Single and double flange | A double flange roller gives more guidance to the track link. Dozers normally run a mixture of the two. |
| Grade 10.9 roller bolts | Forged from alloy steel and heat treated to OEM specification, in metric and imperial. |

Every roller is matched to the make, model and serial number against our product reference guide. Parts are not interchangeable between models, or often between serial number ranges of the same model.

When Do Dozer Track Rollers Need Replacing?
Track roller wear shows on the tread and the flanges, where the chain rails run over the roller. Measure the rollers against new dimensions whenever the chain is measured, because the two wear together.
- Wear on the roller tread and flanges where the chain rails run
- Side wear on the link pin bosses before the links are fully worn, which means the rollers want replacing
- The chain jumping on the sprocket, which worn track rollers are one cause of
- Material packing between the rollers and the links, which stops them running true and speeds up wear
Wide shoes increase roller tread and flange wear: use the narrowest shoe that still gives adequate flotation, and keep the track correctly tensioned. Dozing and push loading put the load on the front rollers; ripping puts it on the rear.
Change all the bottom rollers on a track together. One new roller among worn ones stands proud and carries more than its share of the load, so it wears faster than the set it replaced.
