Top rollers carry the upper run of the track and guide it over the undercarriage frame, under push, rip and turn loads. Material, sealing and fit decide how long that lasts.

When Do Dozer Top Rollers Need Replacing?
Top roller wear is measured against new dimensions, in the same way as the bottom rollers, idlers and chain. Check the top rollers whenever the undercarriage is measured, because the parts wear together.
- Wear on the roller tread and flanges where the track runs over the roller
- Material packing around the rollers, which stops them running true and speeds up wear
- Track shoes wider than the job needs, which increase roller tread and flange wear
- Wear on the chain, idlers and bottom rollers, which wear with the top rollers
Use the narrowest shoe that still gives adequate flotation, and keep the track correctly tensioned.
On dozer undercarriage a full kit adds the idlers, carrier rollers and bottom rollers to the track groups and sprocket segments, so the whole undercarriage wears from the same starting point.
