DuraLine Rubber Pads

Clip-On Rubber Pads

A clip-on pad fixes to the steel track shoe with a fixed bracket on one side and a secure clamp on the other. It converts a steel-tracked excavator to work on roadways, concrete hard-standing and other finished surfaces without risk of damage, and comes off again when the machine goes back to dirt.

Astrak supplies DuraLine clip-on pads in widths from 300mm to 850mm, on link pitches from 101mm to 216mm, for excavators up to 50 tonnes. Clip-on pads can be fitted in half the time of conventional pads, minimising labour costs and maximising uptime. Every pad is backed by a 6-month warranty.

Delivery & Fitting

Clip-On Pad Sizes by Link Pitch

The pad is set by the link pitch of the chain and the width of the track shoe. Measure the pitch between two adjacent pins and the shoe width, and read across.

Clip-On, Bolt-On or Roadliner?

All three styles do the same job. What separates them is how they fix to the track and how often the pads have to come off.

  • Clip-on, 300mm to 850mm. A fixed bracket one side and a clamp the other, fitted in half the time of conventional pads, for machines that move between road work and dirt.
  • Bolt-on, 300mm to 700mm. Bolts through a predrilled shoe, with nothing clamped on to the chain. A semi-permanent conversion, for machines where the pads stay on. See bolt-on rubber pads.
  • Roadliner, 400mm to 600mm. A one-piece vulcanised pad that bolts directly to the chain in place of the shoe.

Clip-on pads fit the existing shoe, so no predrilled shoe is needed. If the shoes are close to their wear limit, fit the pads to new shoes rather than to shoes due for replacement. DuraTrack triple grouser shoes are supplied from 300mm to 1200mm.

Whichever style you choose, the chain underneath decides how long the job lasts. A free undercarriage inspection measures chain stretch, rail height and grouser height and reports the wear percentage of each, so pads go onto a chain with life left in it.

Clip-On Pad Questions, Answered

What is a clip-on rubber pad?
A clip-on rubber pad fixes to the existing steel track shoe with a bracket on one side and a clamp on the other, so a steel-tracked excavator can work on roads, concrete hard-standing and other finished surfaces without damaging them. Unlike a bolt-on pad it needs no predrilled shoe and is designed to come on and off between jobs.
What sizes do clip-on pads come in?
Widths run from 300mm to 850mm on link pitches from 101mm to 216mm, covering excavators up to 50 tonnes. The pad is chosen by the link pitch of the chain and the width of the track shoe, and every pad we list is matched to a specific make and model.
How long does it take to fit clip-on pads?
Clip-on pads can be fitted in half the time of conventional pads. The fixed bracket locates one side of the shoe and the clamp secures the other, with no predrilled shoe needed. A set can be fitted at your depot or on site by our nationwide network of approved plant fitters.
How many clip-on pads does my machine need?
One per track shoe, so the quantity is the total number of shoes on both tracks. A JCB JS130LC or Hitachi ZX130-5 takes 88 pads; a Komatsu PC210-8 or CAT 320D takes 90; a Hitachi ZX210-3 takes 92. The exact quantity for your machine is shown on its product page.
Should I choose clip-on or bolt-on pads?
It depends on how often the pads come off. Clip-on pads fit in half the time of conventional pads and need no predrilled shoe, which suits a machine moving between road work and dirt. Bolt-on is a semi-permanent conversion for a machine that keeps its pads on. Clip-on covers 300mm to 850mm; bolt-on covers 300mm to 700mm. Tell us how the machine is used and we will price both.
How quickly can you deliver clip-on pads?
Place your order before 4:30pm and it will be despatched for delivery on the next working day. Clip-on pads are available from stock across the width range, with delivery reliability across the business running at 95% on time in full.
