Rubber pads bolted to steel track shoes on a tracked machine

DuraLine Rubber Pads

Rubber Pads for Excavators & Tracked Plant

Rubber pads let a steel-tracked machine work on roads, hardstanding and finished surfaces without damaging them, and they are often what gets a machine onto a site with surfaces to protect in the first place.

Astrak supplies DuraLine and DuraLine Plus pads in three excavator fitting styles for machines from 4 to 26 tonnes: Roadliner and bolt-on from 400mm to 600mm, and clip-on from 500mm to 800mm. The range also covers paver, planer, street and demolition robot pads. Which style applies is set by how often the pads need to come on and off.

  • DuraLine Plus pads offer 52% more durability than standard pads based on independent abrasion analysis
  • Clip-on pads fit in half the time of conventional pads
  • Bolt torque figures supplied for every pad
  • Next-working-day delivery from stock
Delivery & Fitting
Place your order before 4:30pm and it will be despatched for delivery on the next working day. Every pad is supplied with its specified bolt torque, from 85Nm on a 400mm bolt-on pad to 894Nm on a 600mm Roadliner. Pads can be fitted at your depot or on site by our nationwide network of approved plant fitters.

Roadliner Pads

4 to 26 tonnes, 400mm to 600mm

A one-piece vulcanised pad that bolts directly to the steel track chain in place of the shoe, including for rail infrastructure work.

Clip-On Pads

9 to 26 tonnes, 500mm to 800mm

A fixed bracket one side and a secure clamp the other, so the pads go on and come off without unbolting the shoe. Fitted in half the time of conventional pads.

Bolt-On Pads

4 to 26 tonnes, 400mm to 600mm

The Smart Pad system

Polyurethane pads for milling machines and pavers, and the DuraLine XD Smart Pad: a replaceable rubber pad on a long-life baseplate, so the pad is renewed and the baseplate stays on the machine.

Rubber Pads by Machine and Surface

Pads are supplied for excavators from 4 to 26 tonnes, tracked pavers, road milling machines, backhoe loaders and robotic demolition machines including Brokk, Husqvarna and McConnel. Astrak also carries the only rubber pad solution on the market for the JCB 245XR, a 700mm DuraLine clip-on compatible with 30mm grouser heavy-duty track shoes. Not sure which style suits the way your machine works? Send the make, model and shoe width and we will tell you.

How to Specify Excavator Rubber Pads

Three numbers decide the pad: the machine weight class, the width of the track shoe it is going on, and the link pitch of the chain. Bolt torque follows from the pad, and runs from 85Nm to 894Nm across the range.

Clip-on pads start at 9 tonnes. Below that the choice is Roadliner or bolt-on. The codes and torques above are the DuraLine Plus range.

Which style should I choose?
It comes down to how often the pads come off. A machine that stays on finished surfaces suits Roadliner or bolt-on pads, which are semi-permanent. A machine that moves between road work and dirt suits clip-on pads, which fit in half the time of conventional pads, so less labour goes into each changeover.
What is the difference between DuraLine and DuraLine Plus?
Both come in all three excavator styles, and DuraLine also covers the paver, planer and milling machine ranges. DuraLine Plus is the premium range, manufactured from premium quality, abrasion-resistant rubber using state-of-the-art equipment and advanced quality control processes: DuraLine Plus Pads offer 52% more durability than standard pads based on independent abrasion analysis, and DuraLine Plus is the chosen rubber pad for several of the largest global excavator OEMs.
Do I need predrilled track shoes?
For bolt-on pads, yes: the pad bolts through the shoe, so the holes have to be there. DuraTrack track shoes are available with a predrilled option for exactly this reason, so if you are replacing shoes and expect to run pads later, order them predrilled and the conversion is a bolt-up job rather than a drilling job.

Pads bolt to the chain, so the chain's condition decides how long the job lasts. Our free inspection measures the whole undercarriage and reports the wear percentage of each component, with the corrective actions.

Rubber Pad Questions, Answered

What are rubber pads for an excavator?
Rubber pads are pads fitted over or in place of the steel track shoes on a tracked machine, so the machine can travel and work on roads, concrete hardstanding, block paving and other finished surfaces without damaging them. They are also called rubber track pads or excavator track pads. Astrak supplies them in three styles: Roadliner, clip-on and bolt-on.
Which rubber pads fit my machine?
Three things decide it: the machine weight class, the width of the track shoe and the link pitch of the chain. Roadliner and bolt-on pads cover machines from 4 to 26 tonnes in widths from 400mm to 600mm; clip-on pads cover 9 to 26 tonnes in widths from 500mm to 800mm. Send the machine make, model and shoe width and we will confirm the pad against our product reference guide.
How long does it take to fit rubber pads?
It depends on the style. Clip-on pads can be fitted in half the time of conventional pads, because a fixed bracket one side and a clamp the other means the shoe does not have to come off, which minimises labour costs and maximises uptime. Roadliner and bolt-on pads take longer to fit but are intended to stay on.
How much more durable are DuraLine Plus pads?
DuraLine Plus Pads offer 52% more durability than standard pads based on independent abrasion analysis. They are manufactured using an advanced abrasion-resistant and anti-chunking rubber compound, and DuraLine Plus is the chosen rubber pad for several of the largest global excavator OEMs.
Do rubber pads damage the track chain?
Fitted correctly to the right pitch and torqued to specification, no. Problems come from the wrong pad width for the shoe, bolts that have not been torqued to the figure for that pad, or pads fitted to a chain that was already at its wear limit. Every pad we supply comes with its specified bolt torque, from 85Nm on a 400mm bolt-on pad to 894Nm on a 600mm Roadliner.
Do you supply pads for pavers and road planers?
Yes. The paver and planer range includes EPS, rubber and polyurethane bonded pads in bolt-on, chain-on and clip-on styles. Polyurethane planer pads are supplied in key widths of 260mm, 300mm, 350mm and 360mm, covering drum sizes from 1m to 2.5m, and Astrak covers the full Wirtgen EPS (Easy Pad System) range.
What is the DuraLine XD Smart Pad?
DuraLine XD is a replaceable rubber pad system for tracked paving equipment and robotic demolition machines. The pad is renewed and the long-life baseplate stays on the machine, so you replace the wearing part rather than the whole assembly. The rubber blend is natural and synthetic rubber, identical to that used across the DuraLine and DuraLine Plus ranges.
Do you have pads for the JCB 245XR?
Yes. The DuraLine 700mm clip-on is the only rubber pad solution on the market for the JCB 245XR, and it is compatible with 30mm grouser heavy-duty track shoes. It uses two clips for ease of fitment and removal.
How quickly can you deliver rubber pads?
Place your order before 4:30pm and it will be despatched for delivery on the next working day. Pads are available from stock across the three excavator styles, with delivery reliability across the business running at 95% on time in full.
