DuraTrack Undercarriage
Excavator & Dozer Undercarriage Parts
The DuraTrack range comprises crawler undercarriage components manufactured in OEM production facilities to rigorous OEM standards. All DuraTrack products are fully tested and inspected to ensure correct fitment, durability, consistent quality and assured performance.
The range covers tracked machines from 0.8 to 80 tonnes: track chains and assembled track groups, track shoes, sprockets and segments, bottom and top rollers, idlers, track adjusters and hardware. The undercarriage wears as one system, so a free inspection measures every component before we quote.
- One of the largest undercarriage stock holdings in Europe
- Single components, half kits, full kits or a complete undercarriage
- Free undercarriage inspection with a measured wear report
- Next-working-day UK delivery from stock

Undercarriage hardwareUndercarriage Wear and Inspection
Each wearing component sets the wear rate of the components it runs against. A worn sprocket shortens the life of a new chain, and one new roller among worn ones wears faster than the set it replaced. Four measurements determine most replacements: chain stretch, rail height, grouser height, and roller and idler tread wear.
- Chain stretch. Measured across four or five pin centres against the new specification. On a 50 link chain, 1mm of pin wear plus 1mm of bush wear adds around 100mm to the overall length.
- Sprocket wear. Compared against an unused sprocket of the same type. Sharp or hooked teeth let the chain jump, which shock loads the final drive.
- Rollers. Change all bottom rollers together. One new roller among worn ones stands proud and carries more than its share of the load.
- Shoe width. Use the narrowest shoe that still gives adequate flotation. Excess width accelerates bush, sprocket, link and roller wear and loosens hardware.
Four operating habits extend undercarriage life: dig over the idlers rather than the sprockets, keep the track correctly adjusted, keep the undercarriage clear of packed material, and reverse as little as the job allows. Excavator chains are designed to wear less travelling forwards.
