Track adjusters and track tensioners for excavators

The track adjuster, also called the track tensioner or recoil spring assembly, sits in the undercarriage frame between the bulkhead and the idler. Its job is to keep the track correctly tensioned. Three parts, one assembly

• Tensioning piston: a grease-filled ram that sets the tension when grease is pumped through the fitting
• Spring pack: absorbs impact as the track meets obstacles
• Yoke: the fork-shaped section that bolts to the idler side arms or blocks

Warranty and shipping

A track adjuster installed with a new idler carries a 12-month warranty; we confirm the term when we quote. A worn idler can cause a new track adjuster to fail prematurely, and it is also far easier to replace the adjuster while the idler is being changed. Held in US stock. Signs of failure

A track that looks far too tight can mean the spring rod has broken and the assembly is over-tensioned. Loss of tension points to failed piston seals.
