How to Identify Your Dozer Track Rollers

Rollers change between models, and often between serial number ranges of the same model. Five details let our team confirm the right roller before it ships.

What to checkWhy it matters
Make, model and serial numberSets the roller for the machine and the serial number range.
Single or double flangeA double flange roller gives more guidance to the track link, and dozers normally run a mixture of the two.
Track rollers and carrier rollers per sideTells us how many of each the undercarriage takes.
Track shoe widthMeasured in millimeters. Wide shoes increase roller tread and flange wear.
Markings on the old rollerAny numbers cast into the roller are cross-referenced against our product reference guide.

Scroll the table sideways to see every column.

Also tell us whether the machine runs a standard undercarriage or a proprietary system such as Cat SystemOne or Komatsu PLUS.

Bottom roller or carrier roller?
Bottom rollers, also called track rollers, run along the underside of the track frame and carry the machine weight. Carrier rollers, also called top rollers, sit on top of the frame and guide the track over it. Both are listed by make and model.
How are dozer track rollers built?
Forged roller shells, friction welded or submerged arc welded, then heat treated by differential quenching or through hardening, on shafts of forged alloy or rolled carbon steel, hardened, with heavy-duty seals.
Which bolt grade do rollers use?
Roller bolts and sprocket bolts are grade 10.9. Track bolts, segment bolts and split master bolts are grade 12.9. All are forged from alloy steel and heat treated to OEM specification, in metric and imperial.

Dozer Track Roller Wear: What to Look For

The chain rails run on the roller tread, so rollers and chain wear together. Measure both against new dimensions before you buy, so the parts are changed once and together. Our team will tell you what to measure.

  • Worn treads and flanges where the chain rails run
  • Side wear on the link pin bosses before the links are fully worn
  • A track chain jumping on the sprocket
  • Packed material between the rollers and the links

Track shoes wider than the job needs speed up roller tread and flange wear. Run the narrowest shoe that still floats the machine and keep the track at the correct tension. Dozing and push loading work the front rollers hardest; ripping works the rear.

Replace all the bottom rollers on a track at once. A single new roller among worn ones stands proud and carries more than its share of the load.

Dozer Track Roller FAQs

What is a dozer track roller?
A track roller, also called a bottom roller, runs along the underside of the track frame on a crawler dozer or track loader and carries the weight of the machine through the track chain to the ground. DuraTrack dozer track rollers have forged roller shells, heat treated, on hardened shafts with heavy-duty seals.
Do you stock dozer track rollers in the US?
Yes. DuraTrack dozer track rollers are held in US stock in Texas. Order stocked rollers by 4:00pm CT and they ship the same day. If the roller for your machine is not in stock we confirm the lead time when we quote, before you commit.
Which dozer makes and models do you cover?
More than 450 crawler dozer and track loader models, including the CAT D6, D8 and D9, John Deere 450, 550, 650, 700, 750 and 850, Komatsu D39, D61, D65 and D155, Case 650, 750, 850, 1150 and 2050M, and Liebherr PR724 to PR756. Send the make, model and serial number and we confirm the correct roller against our product reference guide.
Single flange or double flange?
Both. A double flange roller gives more guidance to the track link, and dozers normally run a mixture of the two. Each model is listed with its single flange and double flange rollers, and the model and serial number tell us which your undercarriage takes.
How do I know my track rollers are worn?
Check the tread and both flanges, where the chain rails run. Side wear on the link pin bosses before the links are fully worn, or a chain that jumps on the sprocket, can both point to worn rollers. Measure the rollers against new dimensions at the same time as the chain.
Should I replace all the track rollers at once?
Yes. Replace all the bottom rollers on a track together. A single new roller among worn ones stands proud, carries more than its share of the load and wears early. A full dozer kit adds the idlers, carrier rollers and bottom rollers to the track groups and sprocket segments, so everything wears from the same starting point.
What warranty comes with dozer track rollers?
DuraTrack dozer track rollers carry a 3 year, 4,000 hour warranty, whichever comes first, under the Astrak US Product Warranty Policy for steel undercarriage. We confirm the terms for your parts when we quote.
